Our Changemaker of the Week is Pet Pirates.

A group of dedicated volunteers, known as the Pet Pirates, recently took part in a plastic-picking competition and made a HUGE impact by removing seven tons of trash from a Hungarian lake. 

Their incredible effort led to the removal of seven tons of trash from a Hungarian lake! By taking part in a plastic-picking competition, they tackled a massive amount of waste, significantly improving the lake’s health and beauty

At 106, Dr. Brenda Milner is not slowing down! This trailblazing neuroscientist at McGill University is still unlocking the mysteries of the brain. Born in Manchester in 1918, Brenda revolutionized brain science with her groundbreaking work on memory formation. Today, she’s best known for discovering how our brains remember and learn.

Dr. Milner’s dedication to exploring the human mind spans over seven decades, making profound impacts that have reshaped cognitive neuroscience. Her insights into memory types and brain plasticity continue to offer hope for those with brain injuries and learning disabilities.
